Tech YouTuber Zack Nelson, aka Jerry’s everythinghe pointed out several issues he encountered with the Rivian R1T after a year of owning it and more than 10,000 miles of driving—from waterlogged doors to plant growing in the undercarriage of his EV.

Nelson, who runs an off-road wheelchair company called Not a wheelchair, he said he filled the bed of the truck with all sorts of things—from horse feces to dirt and gravel—and used it to haul more than 11,000 pounds and even go off-road. A Rivian spokesperson told Insider that the company is always looking for ways to improve its cars.

“Creators like Zack are a great window into how our products enable all kinds of experiences, dirt and all,” the spokesperson said in an emailed statement. “When things go wrong, we have a nationwide and growing service team that is able to address issues and get people back on the road as quickly as possible.”

“It’s exciting to have been driving for a year and a half after my first drive.”

Despite some things he says he hates about the car, he told Nelson—who has owned and driven a variety of vehicles from a Tesla Roadster and Model X to the F-150 Lightning—that the truck remains his all-time favorite vehicle to drive.

“It’s a truck with sports-car performance, but all the capabilities of a truck. I really like the handling and acceleration. When you’re pulling something you can barely tell it’s there. It’s so strong and powerful, it makes a gas-powered truck look old,” Nelson said.

“It’s exciting to be driving the car for a year and a half after my first drive,” he added.

Nelson told Insider he had expected to take the car in for various repairs as a first adopter, but was pleasantly surprised by the company’s customer service, comprehensive warranty, and lack of serious quality control issues.

“Buying a truck from a new auto company is a quantum leap, especially because you have to worry about whether they have what it takes to stay in business,” he said. “But I jumped in and I can’t say I regret it.”
