A reckless climber has fallen to his death from a high-rise in Hong Kong after he was last seen knocking on a window on the 68th floor.

The South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported that Remy Lucidi, 30, also known as ‘Remy Enigma’, was seen by a construction worker knocking from outside a window, suggesting he might be trapped and calling for help.

Tregunter Tower, from which Mr. Lucidi fell on Thursday, is located in the upscale Mid-Levels area of the city.

The Frenchman had fallen 721 feet to his death by the time police arrived and officers found his camera, which contained extreme sports video. Mr. Lucidi, who describes himself as a photographer based in Hong Kong, has climbed buildings all over the world to take selfies.

According to media reports, Mr Lucidi arrived at Tregunter’s building at 7.30pm on Thursday and told a security guard that he was visiting a friend on the 40th floor, although the said resident has since denied knowing him.

CCTV footage revealed that the climber took the elevator to the 49th floor and then the stairs to the 68th level before forcing the climber to open the door to the roof.

“friendly and down to earth”

The Frenchman was staying at a hostel in the Tsim Sha Tsui district of the city. He was “friendly and down-to-earth,” Georgette Kaur, the owner of the lodge, told SCMP, adding that he was healthy and fit. “I feel so sad,” she said.

The police are investigating whether Mr. Lucidi died while doing extreme sports.
