Ex-Watergate Attorney Finds 'Very Bad Omen' for Donald Trump's Legal Team

Former Watergate attorney general Nick Ackerman on Sunday warned Donald Trump’s legal team against unwarranted attempts to delay the trial of the former president in a new case. charges related to his efforts to overthrow the outcome of the 2020 elections.

Trump has claimed the charges, his latest legal trouble, are an attempt to interfere in the 2024 election, in which the Republican Party is currently leading. Delays may mean that the trial won’t take place until, presumably, he returns to the White House.

Ackerman, who appeared on CNN, noted how U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan, who was to supervise the caseIt seems that he is not willing to accept any pointless delays.

“I think that’s a very bad omen for the Trump defense team,” Ackerman said.

He added, “Because it is clear that this judge will not take any bullshit.”

Ackerman predicted that Chutkan would “move this case forward” and predicted Trump’s impeachment trial in January or February 2024.
