A dog named Enzo proved that when he escaped from his yard in Philadelphia and went on a doggy walk — he ran wild and freed up a busy highway, forcing police to chase him.
Video of the incident showed how Enzo stopped I-95 traffic at 7:20 a.m. Friday when he was zipping through traffic, evading police officers chasing him on foot, a local ABC affiliate. WPVI-TV mentioned. He was even hit by a truck at one point but jumped back up and kept running, seemingly unfazed.
Enzo’s owner, Lisa Zurbaran, said he escaped from her yard while she was getting ready for work.
All I heard was ‘pop!’ No tumbling, no barking, nothing. I looked back and he was running,” Zurbaran WPVI-TV said. “It hurt, I was nervous all day.”
Zurbaran called the local animal control and searched frantically on social media. She got lucky when someone sent her a link to a news report.
“You brought me the news, I was like, ‘I think that’s my dog,’” Zurbaran told WPVI. “I went to the link, there were a lot of videos of him and I’m like, ‘Oh yeah that’s my dog.’”
WPVI reported that after a chase, Pennsylvania State Police cornered the dog and brought him to safety.
They take Enzo to the Langhorne Pet Care Center, where the staff reports that Enzo is doing well after being examined by a veterinarian.
“He’s definitely been through some trauma. You can definitely tell by his body language, heavy panting, he’s definitely still nervous,” Angela Carpino, general manager of Town & Country Pet Care, told WPVI.
Zurbaran told the outlet that she plans to get Enzo’s microchip after the fiasco.
“I’m sure he’ll sleep like a baby tonight,” Zurbaran told WPVI.
