Former President Donald Trump mocked former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s weight at a rally in New Hampshire on Tuesday, suggesting the personal insults that defined his 2016 campaign could be retaliating in the coming months.

“Christie, he’s eating right now, can’t be bothered,” Trump said during a lengthy comment about the state of polling in the 2024 presidential campaign so far.

He then warned audience members not to call Christie a “fat pig” – though it was not clear if anyone did.

“Sir, please don’t call him a fat pig,” Trump said, gesturing to the audience at Wyndham. “I’m trying to be nice. Don’t call him a fat pig.”

“Now, because you’re not allowed to do that, and therefore, we won’t,” he continued. “We want to be very civilized, right?”

A spokesperson for Christie’s presidential campaign did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment.
